Classic Romantic Comedy Films

Romantic comedies are one of the most enduring films out there. In this blog post I’d like to share two of my favorite films of the genre.

First, Roman Holiday (1953).
Starring: Gregory Peck, Audrey Hepburn
Director: William Wyler
Story: Dalton Trumbo

"In Roman Holiday, Audrey Hepburn plays a modern-day princess rebelling against her royal obligations who explores Rome on her own. She meets Gregory Peck, an American newspaperman who, seeking an exclusive story, pretends ignorance of her identity. But his plans falter as they fall in love."

Audrey Hepburn won an Oscar in her first starring role in Roman Holiday.

Second, Sabrina (1954).
Starring: Humphrey Bogart, Audrey Hepburn, William Holden
Director: Billy Wilder
Story: Samuel Taylor, Ernest Lehman

"Bogie and Holden are the mega-rich Larrabee brothers of Long Island. Bogie’s all work, Holden’s all playboy. But when Sabrina, daughter of the family’s chauffer, returns from Paris all grown up and glamorous, the stage is set for some family fireworks as the brothers fall under the spell of Hepburn’s delightful charms."

Tuesday from That '80s Show: "I’d go to Paris and take cooking classes"
